The Qigong Beginner Set Contains the Courses Gathering Qi & Nourishing Qi

Method 1: Gathering Qi - Tian Yuan

The first method of the Qigong Beginner Set is an invitation to begin a different way of living. In this first method of Yuan Qigong, you’ll start turning your focus inward, attuning yourself to your inner rhythm instead of being mostly dictated by reactions to external events.

During this graceful moving practice, you’ll start to feel a deeper connection with yourself – gradually becoming familiar with the feeling of Qi moving in the body. The exchange of Qi that happens during the practice can initiate changes in the body such as reducing stress, improving posture, and increasing overall strength. In fact, the body and mind are beginning the process of integrating the separated 'self' within the greater whole. This can bring a deep state of calmness, increasing overall awareness.

The course is presented in four sessions, each with various topics addressing all aspects of the practice, including practical and theoretical. There are also audio guides, instructional videos and detailed explanations of each movement. You can go at your own pace, taking all the time you need in order to experience the benefits and deep joy that accompany a Yuan Qigong practice.

Method 2: Nourishing Qi - Di Yuan

A Yuan Qigong practice often brings about a more relaxed, calm, and natural state from which every day life can be approached with more ease. Nourishing Qi (Di Yuan) teaches and trains us to bring our awareness inside the body, thereby building up and keeping a reservoir of Qi in the 3 storage areas of the body called Dantians.

Nourishing Qi is a “standing” form practice. Holding specific postures with graceful transitions in between help us change and correct the outward-going habit of the mind, fostering integration and unification within stillness.

Because of its specific form, its focus on Dantian breathing and the strong Qi effects it engenders, this practice may be challenging for some to begin with. Persistence and dedication are essential in order to help us thoroughly reap the benefits (which are bountiful).

The course is presented in three sessions with four to five topics in each. The topics address the physical posture and the accompanying mind activity. Nourishing Qi is a quiet, peaceful practice that requires time to be fully appreciated. The course also includes video support on Dantian breathing along with a short, supplementary practice.

If you have any unanswered questions, please reach out to our course registrar Tracey, at tracey@renxueamericas.org
What if I already purchased one course and want to get the full set?
The set is offered at a discounted bundle price compared to purchasing the courses individually. Unfortunately, this discount only applies when buying the complete set in a single purchase. If you've already purchased an individual course, you would need to purchase any remaining courses at their regular price.
Note: There is no additional material in buying the full set versus buying the methods separately.
    What audios are included?

If you buy the first method, Tian Yuan, you will have three different and downloadable audios:

    • Audio No.01 Tian Yuan (22 minutes)
    • Audio No.09 Tian Yuan without music (39 minutes)
    • Audio No.10 Tian Yuan with music (39 minutes)
What does the individual teacher session option mean?

The one-hour Zoom session is intended to support your learning of Yuan Qigong and Ren Xue. The focus for the session is up to you - it could be about the method, about Ren Xue and Yuan Qigong, or about understanding Qi and how Qigong helps to enhance the wellbeing of the body, Qi, mind and heart. Wherever you feel you could use some guidance: :

    • Support for your Yuan Qigong learning
    • Discussion of Ren Xue principles
    • Guidance on specific methods
    • Questions about Qi and wellbeing

Sessions must be scheduled within 60 days of registration. After your introductory session, if you choose to continue working with the teacher through classes or one-on-one sessions, arrangements can be made independently, between the two of you.

If I'm taking a class from a Ren Xue teacher to learn this method, do I need this course?

Yes we strongly encourage complementing your ‘live’ class with the online course. These materials greatly enhance your learning and can help you to establish a regular practice:

    • Videos help reinforce proper postures between classes
    • Audio guides support your home practice
    • Having both teacher guidance and course materials provides the best learning experience
    • Once muscle memory develops, you can practice with just the audio guides
    • Learning from a teacher provides valuable benefits including:
      • Precise posture adjustments
      • Direct guidance on mind activity and questions
      • Connection with the Ren Xue community
      • Support for your learning journey

Whether you're learning via online or in-person classes, having the course materials allows you to deepen your practice at your own pace and maintain consistency between sessions with your teacher.

How are the courses accessed after purchase?

The Yuan Qigong courses we offer are all online. This means that when you register, you will have a personal Yuan Qigong course Library which can be accessed by logging into your account through the RXA website.  The courses in your library will include videos, practice audios and written instructions. The videos and audios can be streamed from your web browser, or you can download them onto your computer.

Can I practice the moving methods sitting or lying down due to health issues?

Yuan Qigong is highly adaptable to individual needs:

    • Most methods can be practiced sitting down
    • Some methods can be practiced lying down
    • Certified Yuan Qigong teachers can provide specific modifications

Contact a teacher through our Community section for personalized guidance.

Can I make my practices shorter or longer depending on the time I have?

    Yes! Practice duration is flexible:

    • Short 5-10 minute sessions are beneficial
    • It's better to do a shorter practice than none at all
    • Once familiar with the method(s) and preparation process, you can practice without audio support
    • Longer sessions can explore and combine various methods

Be creative and adapt the practice to your schedule while maintaining the core principles.

Do I need to learn the methods in order or can I choose to learn more advanced methods first?

The Yuan Qigong system follows a three-stage pyramid:

    1. External transformation (first 3 methods)
    2. Internal transformation (next 3 methods)
    3. Xin (Heart) and Shen (True Nature) transformation (last 3 methods)

While following this order is recommended, flexibility is important. Follow your intuition and needs, and consult certified teachers for guidance.

I purchased my course but it says I need to buy it again. How do I access my course?

    Try these steps:

    2. Click "My Library" in the upper right
    3. Log in with your email and password
    4. If needed, reset your password

If issues persist, contact us for web support.

Once all 9 methods have been mastered, how do they work together?

Each method serves unique purposes while complementing others:

    • Methods 1 & 2 pair very well for gathering and storing Qi
    • Choose methods based on daily needs:
      • Method 1 to restore energy, improve health, and deepen connection to nature and life
      • Method 2 for mental stability and calm - settles the Qi and strengthens the body
      • Method 3 for physical movement, building strength and flexibility
    • The final three methods focus on the heart and mind and help integrate practice into every moment
    • Focus on one method or combine them based on your needs
    • Or stick with one method and go deeper into the experience over time

Yuan Qigong is a very versatile set of Qigong practices. There is no wrong or right way to approach it.
