Di Yuan (Nourishing Qi) takes us deeper into the calm state. It is a peaceful, standing practice in which held postures and graceful transitions direct our focus inward towards an ever-increasing integration and unification of the body, Qi, and consciousness.

Emotional reactions and the overactivity of an externally focused life can quickly deplete Qi. Di Yuan helps to further develop and stabilize the relaxed, calm state experienced in Gathering Qi by increasing Qi in the Dantians, the three Qi reservoirs in the body. When Dantian Qi is plentiful and clear, we are less likely to be perturbed by the dramas of everyday life and can remain clear and bright, even in the midst of trying circumstances.

Our mind has a preference for activity – leaping from one thought to another and sending us scurrying after endless externally driven goals. Di Yuan can help calm the mind and change our reference points from external to internal. We begin to become established in an inward focus.
